Your Arcana Message For Today

Shifts and challenges is an indispensable element in our self-growth.

Shifts and challenges is an indispensable element in our self-growth.

The Message of the Day

With The World as the tarot card for today, it only signifies that certain aspects of our lives are drawing closer to an end. This message brings us the inevitable reality of endings which can signal the start of a brand-new chapter. Oftentimes, those conclusions can be bittersweet—a culmination of all your efforts finally producing fruits that are ripe enough to be reaped. When you look back to the tedious and long journey, you'll appreciate yourself for all those times you persevered even though you were so close to giving up countless times. Although this is more of a mental rather than a physical challenge, having a few yet consistent support systems makes all the difference in helping you brave through the storm.

Similar to securing an academic degree, you are graduating from this phase which indicates the cycle of completion. This may be in regards to your health recovery, social relationships, career pursuits, or self-development to name a few. Whatever chapter of your life this may pertain to, expect to feel a sense of fulfillment from rising above the challenges. This may end for now, but you will soon find yourself embarking on a new journey. Completing your degree program does not mean your path towards learning has come to its permanent end. This only concludes that you are prepared to face the challenges in the next chapter. In the meantime, relish the brief period of celebration and rest while it lasts.

Drawing Knowledge from Experiences

Although there are several tarot cards, especially in the major arcana, that symbolize cycles and changes, only The World represents a definite ending to a certain stage in your life. In its upright position, this card almost always depicts that completion will finish on a positive note. Based on the pictures and symbols presented in the tarot card, in the center lies a naked woman that is only covered with a single cloth wrapped around her body while holding a wand on each hand. A round wreath envelope the woman which illustrates the cycle has finally come to a full circle.

The four figures on each end—a cherub on the upper left, an eagle on the upper right, a bull on the lower left, and a lion on the lower right—are divine beings that serve as a symbolic representation of the four elements and directions. These spirit guides enlighten us across the whole duration of our respective destinations. The person represented in the image is none other than ourselves—for man is the primary subject and the doer that makes the completion possible.

One close example of a relevant period for humankind is educational attainment, most especially pursuing a college degree. Most individuals stop their formal education upon earning their bachelor's degree. However, few take their education to higher levels by pursuing a master's degree or even a doctorate. Even in the absence of higher studies or any other formal mode of learning, we still undergo certain circumstances that in turn provide us wisdom through our experiences. In an ideal setup, our newly acquired insights make us equipped to handle similar situations and challenges in the future.

No Pain, No Gain

The cycles presented in the card can mean a multitude of things. In terms of the biological stages of man, the shift from childhood to adolescence may be more noticeable because of the physiological changes as opposed to adolescence towards adulthood. Shifting the attention back to education, most people spend roughly more than 10 years of their life solely dedicated to learning. However, some transitions through different life stages don't have any indicator as to which marks the starting and finish line. These concrete transformations that often come in a subtle and gradual yet consistent manner are also applicable to the intangible themes of human experience.

If the formal school system has a fixed academic year wherein the normal pace is one grade level per year, there is no such thing when it comes to the emotional and psychological state. Emotional maturity and self-awareness come at different ages for each person. Our innate biological features, perspectives, and environments all affect the progress of the cycle we are currently in. Unlike committing to a college degree where graduation marks the clear indication of a new milestone, the attainment of inner development does not have a concept similar to it.

Oftentimes, we are oblivious that we are already undergoing a period of immense internal growth. It seems to just naturally happen for the most part. Difficult and painful moments usually trigger our personal development. Since change and metamorphosis involves outgrowing our old habits and leaving our comfort zone, it is given that this will be an uncomfortable process. While it is normal to be frightened because of the uncertainty, it is not enough reason to disregard the merits of change altogether just because of a few or several aggravations. Remember that successful completion of a cycle is not possible without some trials and tribulations along the way.

Today’s Tip

Our endeavors are more or less similar to taking a degree program. No matter how different our goals may be, the usual bare minimum is having a great deal of commitment. It takes grit and determination before you will be deemed as a degree holder. You will also need the same for any other aspiration you have if you wish for those to come to fruition.

More importantly, take a breather when you find yourself comparing your progress and achievements with your family, relatives, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. When you cannot completely avoid assessing yourself based on the feats of others, the very least you can do is catch those intrusive thoughts. From there, you can map out your path towards correcting that unhealthy habit. Be reminded that we operate at different levels and frequencies. Apart from practicing self-awareness and putting in the effort, trusting in the divine timing is also needed wherever you are in your current phase. Change is not to be feared; it has to be embraced. You are meant to be where you are now. The completion of a cycle that you are working towards will be handed to you in due time.
